Bear’s Daughter Is In Afghanistan For Her Birthday And Bear Is Getting Old (er)
My daughter is serving our country in the US Army at FOB Lagman in Afghanistan and today June 1, 2012 is her 27th Birthday. It’s kind of a muted celebration as she is so far away but yet so close to our hearts.
I never will forget the day that she was born as the nurses guide me into the surgical room for the delivery of our baby. After I just about knocked everything over I sat down next to my wife and then watched the magic happen.
First came her head. (Good lord look at all that hair! She’s giving birthday to a monkey!) Then the rest! With 10 fingers and 10 toes! We all breathed a sigh of relief. That was 27 years ago.
Now she is a grown woman with goals, ambitions, and a family of her own. Her 3 boys are here with their dad Will who sadly in a few weeks is also being deployed to Afghanistan. The boys will then be taken care of by Brianna’s mom until her return.
So in the meantime we are making support ribbons, sending prayers and care packages and supporting our little monkey! Serving in the US Army. Boy I hope that they don’t serve her a camouflage birthday cake!
Here are a couple of pictures of the grand babies. As you can see they are ready for a fun summer and they of course are behaving themselves
