Crosby Stills & Nash Northern Quest Casino Sept 15. A Review From Bear [PICTURES] [AUDIO]
This was one of those shows that I just knew was going to be magical when I saw the tickets go on sale last May. I scooped up a stay & play package which included a room (Classic King) and two tickets to see Crosby Stills & Nash in the Pavilion at the Northern Quest Casino.
From the moment we arrived we were treated like First Class Guests! The staff was very friendly and helpful. when we were checking in I poked y wife and said “Hey! thats the band’s tour manager checking in the band” as I had spotted a lanyard. Then up walks Stephen Stills as he is trying to get his room key and head up the elevator. I thought I had also spotted David Crosby in lobby as well.
We enjoyed a great buffet dinner which included salmon, prime rib and lots of salads and healthy choices. Well that is until I got to the dessert bar. Quite yummy! Everything from build your own sundays to burnt creme!
We headed to the casino for a little gambling and then to the pavilion for the show. When they opened the doors at 6:45 I was surprised as to how small it was! I figured maybe 1000 seats tops. 2 big screens and an intimate stage that brought the band right up close! Well we were close. Row ten!
From the moment CSN took the stage you could tell that David, Graham & Stephen were energized. They have been playing all over the place this summer and the reviews have been amazing. As we enjoyed nearly 2 1/2 hours of classic hits that included some solo material, Buffalo Springfield, even some CSN&Y songs. A couple of protest songs, song love songs, sailing songs, even some weird songs (David writes the weird stuff). It was a magical night. If you get a chance see Crosby Stills & Nash. Here is the bands website with tour info If you don’t get a chance to see the band buy the new 2cd 1 dvd set Summer 2012. It is well worth it. Even after all these years they still sound amazing! The dvd includes some cool conversations with Stephen, Graham & David and band members.
Lets talk about the band for a moment. My hat is off to this group of players that has played with David Gilmour, Jackson Browne, even David Crosby’s son James Raymond who sings harmony and plays piano.
So here is a song that has been around for awhile. It is on the Summer 2012 Cd set. Radio has ignored but it is a song that just washes over your soul.
check out my pictures, listen to the song and let me take you back to your hippie days
